The population pyramids below represent two countries at different stages of the demographic transition and economic development. Explain the demographic characteristics of each country below with respect to the demographic transition model Describe potential issues both countries could phase in the future if their population pyramids remain the same. Describe possible solutions to each's country population concerns.  Christmas tree, stage 1 Box, Stage 3- Still developing and industrializing The first population pyramid represents a country that is not yet developed and still very well developing. This country is on a stage 1 in the demographic transition model because it is not yet industrialized. I can tell because of the shape of the population pyramid, the birth rate is high which most likely means women are just having kids and not working or birth control isn't available. An issue this country might have is over population, which can lead to poverty very quickly b

Partyy, but Exams !

Happy Birthday Mr.Schick!!! We had a lot of fun in the last human geo class! Owen brought in a "population pyramid" cake and Mr. Schick brought in cookies for the class. We listened to some Christmas music and had a good time. After this party, we reviewed the exam and talked about demographic transitions. I think I understand this chart but I still need to look over it. I feel good about this exam because I know most of the material but there are still a lot of things I need to go over. I hope I do good!!

Exams and Class Discussions

In class today we reviewed our exam and got our pop quizes back. I did not do good on mine at all and i'm really upset about this. When jokingly asking Mr.Schick to not count the quiz he said something like, "Why should I take away something just because you did bad on it, it's like the rich giving to the poor, it shouldn't happen." He was clearly referring to when on a class discussion I said, and I quote, " I don't think the rich and successful should be taxed greater than the poor and then be obligated to give them some of their salary because some of these people worked extremely hard for their money and for the place they're on right now. While SOME people that are not as successful and wealthy ended up in their position because they're lazy." It's a fact that there are people in the streets that if they were told the government would provide stable living conditions for them, they would quit whatever they were trying to do and just

Demographic Transition

Demographic transition refers to the transition from high birth and death rates to lower birth and death rates as a country or region develops from a pre-industrialized economic system. We also discussed how some countries that seem developed and are very wealthy, are still developing and haven't reached the highest level yet, like China.

Demographic transition models... continued.

In class, we discussed demographic transition models and how they measure the birth and death rates of a country. It showed 5 stages a country could be at, at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd stages, the population of the country is still growing but once a country reaches the 4th or 5th stage, the population stays stable or starts decreasing. The population decrease can cause a lot of economic problems but so can a country with a huge population.
