Democracy and greece's golden age


  • tragedy- a serious drama about common themes such as love, hate, war or betrayal
  • comedy- contained scenes filled with slapstick situations and crude humor
  • Peloponnesian War- war between sparta and athens, athens had a stronger navy but, sparta had a stronger army
  • sparta gaines victory- sparta took over and eventually they signed a truths. The peace didn't last long, athenians sent a huge fleet carrying more than 20,000 soldiers to the island of sicily
  • direct democracy- a form of government in which citizens rule directly and not through representatives
  • classical art- harmony, order, balance and proportion
  • Socrates
  • critic of the sophists
  • believed that absolute standards did exist for truth and justice
